Connect Claude

Connect Claude to Otto as a custom connector on the web and in the app, or with one command in Claude Code. Step by step.

On this page

Claude connects to Otto as a custom connector. You add it once and it works on the web, in the desktop app and on mobile. In Claude Code you add it with a command.

What you need

  • A Claude account on claude.ai, in the desktop app or on mobile. Custom connectors are available on the free plan too, how many you can have at once depends on the plan.
  • On the Team and Enterprise plans an organization owner adds the connector in the organization settings first. Everyone else then just connects.
  • Otto on the Business or Custom plan and an Otto account of the company owner or a colleague with the settings permission.

On the web and in the app

  1. Open the settings. In Claude click your name in the bottom left and choose Settings.
  2. Go to connectors. Open Connectors.
  3. Add Otto. Click Add custom connector. Type Otto as the name, https://mcp.ottoai.eu as the address and click Add.
  4. Sign in to Otto. Next to Otto click Connect. The Otto sign-in opens: sign in, pick the company, tick Also change if needed and click Allow.
  5. Check the connection. In a new chat make sure Otto is turned on in the tools menu and write: “List the colleagues on my Otto team.” When Claude replies with your team, the connection works.

A connector added on the web is in the Claude mobile app too, you don’t add it again.

In Claude Code

  1. Add the server. In the terminal run:
    Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http otto https://mcp.ottoai.eu
  2. Sign in to Otto. In Claude Code type /mcp, pick otto and choose Authenticate. The Otto sign-in opens in the browser, pick the company and click Allow. Otto warns you that the sign-in returns to a program on this computer, that is fine.
  3. Check the connection. In a new session write the same test request.

When something doesn’t work

  • Another company or account got connected. Disconnect the connector in Claude (Settings, Connectors, Otto, Disconnect), sign in to Otto with the right account in the browser and connect it again.
  • Claude doesn’t see the Otto tools. Start a new chat and make sure Otto is turned on in the tools menu. In Claude Code start a new session and check the status with /mcp.
  • The assistant changes nothing. You did not tick Also change at sign-in. Disconnect it and connect again.
  • Removing it from Claude Code. Run claude mcp remove otto.
