Where to paste the Otto chat code in Shoptet, where to find the Heureka feed, how to unlock a locked feed and what to do when the chat does not show.

Shoptet is a platform for renting an online store, and there is no Otto add-on for it. You paste the chat code into the HTML codes in the store footer and copy the Heureka feed address from the XML feeds, which takes about 5 minutes. The Shoptet admin is in Czech or Slovak depending on the store's country, so the steps give the Czech names with their meaning in brackets.

What you need

  • An Otto account. You find the chat code in the panel under Overview, on the Installation & integrations card, on the Shoptet tile.
  • Access to the Shoptet admin with rights to Vzhled a obsah (Appearance and content) and Propojení (Connections). The store owner always has it.

Chat code

On the Shoptet tile, click Copy code. You get one line with your company’s public key:

The sample shows pk_vas_kluc instead of a key, the tile gives you the code with your own key. The key is not a password, you do not need to hide it. Add the code once, it covers the whole site.

Adding the code

  1. In the Shoptet admin open Vzhled a obsah, Editor and the HTML kód (HTML code) tab.
  2. Paste the chat code into the Zápatí (Footer) field in one go from the clipboard (Ctrl+V). If the field already holds other codes, put it on a new line after them.
  3. Click Uložit (Save).

A new Shoptet store has its XML feeds locked, so Otto cannot download them. In Propojení, XML feedy (XML feeds) open the Zabezpečení (Security) tab, tick Zakázat přístup z IP adres, které nepoužijí bezpečnostní hash (deny access from IP addresses that do not use the security hash), save, and paste the full feed address including the hash into Otto.

Checking it works

  1. Open your website in a new browser window and reload. A chat bubble should pop up in the bottom right.
  2. Send the chat a test question. Otto answers within a few seconds.
  3. In the panel, under Settings, Connections, the Your website row shows the domain the chat runs on.
While the store runs on the trial address .myshoptet.com, the chat shows there. It moves to your domain on its own the first time it appears there.

Product catalogue

You find the Heureka feed in Propojení, XML feedy among the system feeds, and the addresses show in the table once you pick the language and country. Use the product feed with an address like https://www.your-domain.com/heureka/export/products.xml, not the availability feed or a custom user feed. Shoptet writes a product change into this feed within about an hour.

Paste the feed address in the panel under Settings, Catalogue, and click Check feed. The panel tells you how many products it found, and Otto keeps the feed up to date on its own. More in Product catalogue.

Troubleshooting

The feed does not load even with the hash

Check that you copied the whole address including the ?hash= part. If you did, untick Zakázat přístup z IP adres, které nejsou uvedené na globálním whitelistu (deny access from IP addresses not on the global whitelist) on the Zabezpečení tab. The hash protects the feed on its own.

The Footer field cannot be saved

The field holds at most 8,192 characters and Shoptet does not save it when it is full. Otto's line has fewer than 100 characters, so free up some space or paste it into the Záhlaví (Header) field, where the chat works too.

I typed the code into the Footer by hand and the chat does not show

The Footer editor adds closing tags on its own while you type, so the code can end up with an extra one. Delete the line and paste the code from the Otto panel in one go from the clipboard.

Also check

  • Reload the page without cache with Ctrl+F5, or open it in a private window.
  • The code should be on the page only once, a second copy is ignored.
  • A cookie consent bar can block scripts until the visitor agrees. If the chat only shows up after consent, see Cookie consent.
  • If your site sends a Content-Security-Policy header, allow https://ottoai.sk in it, as shown in Content-Security-Policy.
  • In the browser console (F12), look for messages starting with [Otto]. They tell you what the chat is missing.

Removing the chat

In Vzhled a obsah, Editor, HTML kód delete the line with widget.js from the Zápatí field and save.
