CS-Cart

Where to add the Otto chat code in CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor, how to get it on every page of your store and what to do when it does not show.

On this page

CS-Cart is a platform for online stores and Multi-Vendor is its edition for marketplaces with many sellers. You add the chat code to the settings of the default layout page in the admin and copy it to all pages. It takes about 5 minutes.

What you need

  • An Otto account. You find the chat code in the panel under Overview, on the Installation & integrations card, on the CS-Cart tile. It is under the More platforms tile, and you can also search for it.
  • Access to the CS-Cart or Multi-Vendor admin with permission to edit the store design.

Chat code

On the CS-Cart tile, click Copy code. You get one line with your company’s public key:

<script async src="https://ottoai.sk/widget.js" data-otto-key="pk_vas_kluc"></script>
The sample shows pk_vas_kluc instead of a key, the tile gives you the code with your own key. The key is not a password, you do not need to hide it. Add the code once, it covers the whole site.

Adding the code

  1. In the admin, open Website, Themes, Layouts. In older versions it is Design, Layouts.
  2. Select the tab of the default layout page, Default, and click the gear icon on the tab.
  3. Paste the chat code into the Custom HTML code field. If there is code in it already, add the line below it.
  4. Tick Copy to other locations so the code gets to every page of your store.
  5. Click Save.
Code in Custom HTML code only applies to the pages that use that layout page. Without Copy to other locations the chat shows only on part of your store.

You can also follow the official CS-Cart help.

Checking it works

  1. Open your website in a new browser window and reload. A chat bubble should pop up in the bottom right.
  2. Send the chat a test question. Otto answers within a few seconds.
  3. In the panel, under Settings, Connections, the Your website row shows the domain the chat runs on.
Open several different pages of your store, for example the home page, a category, a product and the cart. If the chat is only on some of them, the code was not copied to all layout pages.

Product catalogue

The built-in Data feeds add-on makes a delimited file (CSV), which Otto cannot read. A Heureka or Google Merchant (XML) feed is made by an add-on from the CS-Cart Marketplace or by a developer.

Paste the feed address in the panel under Settings, Catalogue, and click Check feed. The panel tells you how many products it found, and Otto keeps the feed up to date on its own. More in Product catalogue.

Troubleshooting

The chat is only on some pages

The code was not copied to the other layout pages. Open the settings of the Default page again, tick Copy to other locations and save.

Nothing changed on the website after saving

Clear the store cache: in newer versions in Settings, Clear cache, in older ones in Administration, Storage, Clear cache.

I have several storefronts

Each storefront can have its own theme and layout. Repeat the steps for every storefront where you want the chat.

The code changed after saving

If the field shows a visual editor, set Default WYSIWYG editor to Do not use in Settings, Appearance, save and paste the code again.

Also check

  • Reload the page without cache with Ctrl+F5, or open it in a private window.
  • The code should be on the page only once, a second copy is ignored.
  • A cookie consent bar can block scripts until the visitor agrees. If the chat only shows up after consent, see Cookie consent.
  • If your site sends a Content-Security-Policy header, allow https://ottoai.sk in it, as shown in Content-Security-Policy.
  • In the browser console (F12), look for messages starting with [Otto]. They tell you what the chat is missing.
  • Still nothing? Write to us at podpora@ottoai.sk and include your website address.

Removing the chat

In the settings of the Default page, delete the code from Custom HTML code, tick Copy to other locations and save. Then check that the code did not stay in the settings of other layout pages.
